SAW THEME GUITAR COVER WITH TABS | "Hello Zepp" by Charlie Clouser
Oct 15, 2023Happy Halloween and Happy ROCKtober!! \m/
Colorful leaves crunching under my feet, the rubbery smell of the inside of a Halloween mask, and the crispening of the outside air are all bittersweet signs of a new time of year. This season makes me crave a good horror movie (even more than usual). Out of respect for the new Saw X movie, I decided to cover the Saw Theme: "Hello Zepp" by Charlie Clouser. I'm excited to share this as my first cover song with you!
"Hello Zepp" is a simple, powerful composition. You don't have to be a fan of the Saw series to appreciate it. The ascending, spiraling short phrase motifs that start this song and repeat throughout leave us with a sense of suspense and inquisition. Complimenting those phrases are the descending cadences which often symbolize one's demise in the film franchise.
I put a lot of work into transcribing this song. This is the first time I ever actually wrote down a song I've heard using nothing but my ears and musical experience. There are certainly several avenues I could have taken when working with this song. Most of which would have required more than one guitar part. Ultimately, I wanted to cram as many harmonic voices as possible into a single guitar performance while keeping it true to the original. My gift to you is a downloadable guitar tab with sheet music. Also please check out the original score by Charlie Clouser. I'd love to know how you think my interpretation compares to his composition. Have a happy, safe Halloween, enjoy the rest of your ROCKtober, and I'll SAW you soon 😉
