Today we are going to take a look at Bandzoogle: a popular tool musicians use to make their own websites. We’ll cover Bandzoogle’s main features and pricing tiers while trying to emphasize the features that will most likely be used by guitarists who are looking to share their skills with the world. Toward the end, I’ll show you pages you can make by showing you my website that I made with Bandzoogle. I’ll also give you the pros and cons so you can make a more informed decision about using it. Stick around to find out if you want to build a website by using Bandzoogle.
Pricing Tiers and Main Features
EPK: Bandzoogle currently has a newer EPK plan for $5.91 per month. If you’re only interested in a promotional page that serves as a digital business card for bloggers or places that can book you for performances, this is the least expensive way to start. The drawbacks are that it is the most limited plan, and it doesn’t include a free custom domain.
Lite: This plan currently costs $8.46 per month or $7.04 per month if billed annually. This happens to be the plan I currently use. You get access to a ton of great features with this plan such as a free custom domain, music player for your original music, 0% commission fees, Bandcamp integration, and selling features. When compared to other plans, you’ll be more limited with certain things, such as not being able to sell merch and only being able to have 10 pages, 10 music tracks, and 100 email subscribers.
Standard: This plan currently costs $12.71 per month or $10.59 per month if billed annually. With this plan, you get everything that the Lite plan offers, plus additional features such as 20 pages, 50 music tracks, and 1000 email subscribers. You also get the ability to sell merch, which might make up for the extra money you’re spending on this plan.
Pro: This plan currently costs $16. 96 per month or $14.13 per month if billed annually. This plan includes everything in the Standard version plus extra features such as unlimited pages and unlimited music tracks. You also get more advanced design options, such as custom fonts and video headers. There are also more lucrative features such as a tip jar for lessons or performances, print-on-demand merch, the ability to sell audio and video files, and more. You also get an unlimited email list which is something that gravitated me toward this plan, but I’ll tell you more about why I opted not to choose this plan in the Pros & Cons section.
Webpages You Can Make
Here are some examples of different pages you can make on your website using Bandzoogle:
Home page: This should include the main highlights you want to share with the world. Here’s what mine currently looks like: https://zakcharguitar.com/
About page: Share with the world who you are as a guitarist and what you can offer them. Here’s what mine currently looks like: Zak Char Guitar - About
Contact page: A contact page that lists service-related inquiry options another thing that can help you make money as a guitarist. Offering lessons or other services may be of interest to people who visit your website, and having a contact page is one way to provide that option for them. Here’s what mine currently looks like: Zak Char Guitar - Contact
Blog page: If you’ve got ideas and you wanna share them with the world, this is the way to do it. I upload videos to YouTube and write articles based on those videos. Like YouTube, Bandzoogle has a scheduling feature, so I can schedule uploads to both platforms at the same time. Here’s what mine currently looks like: Zak Char Guitar - Blog
Pros & Cons
Pros:
The best part of Bandzoogle is definitely their customer service. I'm impressed with the fast, helpful, and detailed responses they consistently provide.
Bandzoogle is relatively intuitive to use. You can easily design your own website without any web development or graphic design background.
This service is cost-effective. Bandzoogle is one of the least expensive options I’ve looked at for building a website. The fact that it’s geared toward musicians is a bonus.
I also like that they offer a custom email address for an additional fee of about $15 per year. I think it’s worth having an email address tied directly to my website.
Cons:
I had to really nitpick when thinking about this…
Despite the amazing option of having an unlimited email list in the Pro plan, the lack of email automation and email personalization is something that made me turn away from the plan and choose a less expensive one. I use MailerLite to remedy this; but if Bandzoogle ever introduces email automation and more advanced email marketing tools, I’d certainly consider a higher pricing plan.
Bandzoogle does not offer direct video hosting. This is something I wish it had for people who would like to have premium content, such as courses, exclusively available to customers without having to upload through a separate platform. However, if you don’t mind that or aren’t interested in having premium content on your website, you can upload to YouTube or Vimeo and embed your videos to your webpage.
Conclusion
So, we’ve gone over the features, the pricing, the page building options, as well as the pros and cons as they relate to Bandzoogle. Now you’ve got the inside scoop on this resource, and so I hope this review helps you make an informed decision about what Bandzoogle has to offer. Have you considered other websites or platforms for promoting yourself as a guitarist? And if you’re leaning toward Bandzoogle, which pricing plan seems most appealing to you?
