How To Create A Guitar Project In MuseScore 4

Looking for a way to write your guitar ideas without paying for Guitar Pro? In this lesson, I’m going to show you how to to create your own written guitar project by using a FREE Guitar Pro alternative called MuseScore. By writing down your ideas, you have another medium to bolster your creativity. Plus, you’ll be able to share your written ideas with other musicians. Get ready because I’m about to show you exactly how to create your own project from start to finish using this awesome, free software.

Set Up

• Load up MuseScore 4
• Click New Score
• Select Solo→Guitar + Tablature
• Click Next (Don’t click Done just yet because there are some things you’re going to want to adjust first)

Additional Score Information

• Adjust the key, time signature, tempo, and number of measures to your liking. You can always edit and add and delete measures later
• It’s best to input your title information at this point because it can be a pain to adjust later
• Click Done
  
  

Writing

• Click the pencil icon, then select the note or rest value you intend to use
• Click the location on the staff or tab where you would like the note to be
• Click on the tablature and use the number keys and arrow keys on your keyboard for quicker workflow
• You can also stack notes on top of each other this way to create chords
• Play your transcription back and hear what you wrote by pressing the Play button
